SUMMER IN AUSTRALIA … SHORTS, THONGS AND BBQ TONGS RIGHT?

What a summer it’s been so far, with soaring temperatures across Australia it certainly makes for perfect fresh produce eating weather.

Our growers and operational staff have been working overtime to keep our produce arriving in stores at it’s freshest, full of life and ready to be enjoyed.

SUMMER TRULY IS THE PINNACLE TIME OF YEAR FOR SALADS, BE IT FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER.

The birds are singing and the supermarket aisles are brimming, you can’t help but notice that lettuce is beautifully green and just that little bit sweeter in flavour; radish, cucumbers and capsicums are extra crisp, leafy fresh Kale and fragrant herbs are also in abundance.

With so much choice available it makes it easy to mix up your salad recipes all summer long. Before we get to our favourite salad recipes let’s talk carbohydrates… what?! … I know, I know, the word is scary and perhaps more fitting to talk about in winter BUT there is one carbohydrate you can put on your menu every night without the guilt and that’s Sweet Potato.

Sweet Potatoes are an amazing vegetable. Versatile and quick to cook. The good carbohydrate and proven source of vitamins A and C, vitamin B6 and dietary fibre.

Did you know that Sweet Potatoes contribute to a healthy immune system and healthy skin? I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t want this.

Interestingly, Sweet Potatoes are also a source of pantothenic acid which helps contribute to a healthy brain and nervous system. Not a bad line up of positives and then there is the bonus fact that they taste great!

Sweet Potatoes are being harvested daily from our farm in Bundaberg QLD, yes that’s right we harvest everyday and no we do not store our Sweet Potatoes.

WHY NOT GRAB SOME SWEET POTATOES IN YOUR NEXT SHOP AND TRY ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE WAYS TO ENJOY SWEET POTATOES THIS SUMMER:
